Durango-to-Moab Mountain Bike Adventure - DAY THREE 8-8-11

Day three started with breakfast sans eggs, bacon or chocolate. That's OK. We had a screamin' downhill ahead of us and a swim in Miremonte Reservoir in our future. With the disappointment of Day Two's 'road-ride', we decided to make up our own 'alternate ride' for the day. Suzanne and Kristin mapped out a single-track alternative using the topo. It was a risk that didn't pan out (see 'closed trail' photo) but was a fun, 6-mile detour and a highlight of the day.

 Gorgeous scenery.

Emma heading for a swim.

The water was cool and refreshing.

Kristin liked to show off her sandles to Emma who was traveling light and only brought her Sidi's.

Suzanne takes the lead into the headwind.  The refreshment of the swim was short-lived but rewarded with a fast downhill.
